Olive ewe ranch designs grapevine art

Welcome to

OLIVE EWE RANCH DESIGNS

Deborah sowerby and alpaca at ranch

Living on 40 acres out by Lake San Antonio, I started Olive Ewe Ranch with my family in 2007, raising sheep, alpacas, llamas, free range chickens, cows and even a few pigs. The focus was to provide flocks of sheep for sustainable vineyard practices here in California’s central coast wine region. Sharing the benefits and rewards of sheep in the vineyards was, and still is, rewarding.

The art came out of a need to tell the story of the vineyard, the farming practices and the use of livestock to assist in balanced and healthy soil. My illustrations stem from that juxtaposition and entwined relationship of the animals and their use in the vineyard. Art was a part of my youth, which has been re-awakened to help share farming practices. As I became inspired by my surroundings, and a new focus on, sustainable, organic and an old but natural way of farming, referred to as Biodynamics. I find myself drawing into the wee hours of the night.

Thank you for your interest in my journey from shepherd to artist. I hope you enjoy my art applied to note cards, prints, canvases, tea towels, ornaments, and other unique items. Please feel free to email, text or call me if you have any suggestions or questions, or have interest in carrying my artful merchandise.

Sincerely,
